Shares

What is Shares?

Shares are financial instruments that represent partial ownership of a business. Holding shares may entitle investors to dividend payouts (when declared) and involvement in the company’s corporate development.

Shares are primarily categorized into ordinary and preferred shares, distinguished by their associated voting rights and dividend distribution structure.

Share prices fluctuate based on corporate earnings, macroeconomic indicators, sector-specific trends, and general market expectations.

How Stock Trading Works

Stock markets consist of exchanges and trading platforms where shares of public companies are transacted. Share prices are determined by supply and demand, influenced by company earnings, economic factors, and investor expectations.

Companies can issue shares to the public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Once listed, these shares trade on financial exchanges accessible to individual and institutional market participants.

Share values can rise or fall. In traditional investing, investors buy shares aiming for potential price appreciation and dividends, if declared by the company.

Share CFD Trading Trading Share CFDs does not confer ownership of the underlying asset. Instead, CFDs enable traders to take a position on the price movement of a specific share.

CFD prices fluctuate in real time, and because leveraged trading is involved, losses can accrue rapidly and significantly.
